Restaurant Spotlight: Blue Dog Bistro

Founded by Joshua Lord and opened in September 2019, Blue Dog Bistro reflects Lord and his wife, Amber’s, love of great food and the blue Staffordshire terrier dog breed. The restaurant’s name honors the couple’s beloved dog Blue Bell, who lost her battle with brain cancer after eight months.

As founders of the first keto- , paleo-, vegan- and gluten-free friendly restaurant on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Lords are doing their part to champion the cause of healthy eating while still offering indulgent sweet and savory brunch options. 

From its meals made with fresh, local ingredients to its rustic, industrial-modern ambience, Blue Dog aims to impress guests on every visit. 

“Our atmosphere, service standards, delicious food and people set Blue Dog apart,” Lord says. 

MOST POPULAR DISH: According to Lord, “Our most popular (menu item) is our blueberry ricotta pancake with triple berry syrup.” 

DELICIOUS NEW ADDITIONS: Blue dog will be opening its second location in Gulfport this summer.
