My transformation story: Sandra Coleman Johnson

BEFORE MY TRANSFORMATION

Four years ago, I had a totally different life. I was overweight and suffered from horrible migraine headaches and high cholesterol/ triglycerides. I had no energy or stamina. At age 64, I thought my life was over — and talk about a rut! I was living a grave existence with no hope of anything different — miserable, desperate and thinking there was no solution for me.

WHAT I DID

My daughter started a journey to improve her health by establishing healthy habits, fueling her body consistently and focusing on more hydration. She reached out and said, “I have so much energy and feel so good! I’m sleeping at night! I think you should try it!” So with her hope and encouragement, of course I did.

I started in April 2018, and by July of that year, I had lost 30 pounds and 8 inches in my waist. But what I have gained is so much more. I am now four years into my journey and have not had one migraine headache; what a miracle! I will be 69 years old soon, and I am training to run a 5K when I am 70. I am healthy, fit and continuing to level up in my journey.

Learning healthy habits, drinking lots of water, and being conscious of my body and its needs have given me a renewed vitality I didn’t know was possible. You are never too old to learn to be better. This transformation has been such a blessing to me and many others. Now, I am helping my friends and family transform their heath, too.

THE MOST DIFFICULT PART

The most difficult part was getting used to a new wardrobe in sizes 4-6. It was hard to see myself as this small woman. I went from a size large or extra-large to size small or extra-small, and that is a big adjustment. It takes time for our minds to adjust to our body.

HOW I FEEL ABOUT MYSELF TODAY

I am so grateful for this amazing miracle. I truly have a new life. I can travel without fear. I have fun with my daughters. I garden. I have a beautiful great-grandson and another on the way. I enjoy him so much! The year before the COVID pandemic, I went to Japan to visit my brother and had such a wonderful time. Whatever I want to do, I know I can do. What a great feeling of freedom!

MY ADVICE TO OTHERS

If I could say anything to help encourage or inspire you, my advice would be to reach out to someone you see having success and who you trust. Determine what works and what has given them the joy they are experiencing. Don’t settle for just getting by when you can really live and have freedom and joy.
