Multipurpose makeup tips for travel

by Jackie Merlau | Jmerlaumakeup.com

Traveling soon? Here’s a list of some multipurpose products that will not only simplify your makeup application, it will leave more space in that suitcase for one more swimsuit!

PRODUCT: BECCA SHIMMERING SKIN PERFECTOR

By now we have all fallen in love with a highlighter and the great thing is this face product can also double as an eyeshadow. Tap it in the inner corner of your eye to brighten your look and apply it right on your eyelid to give your eyes a pop of shimmer!

TRAVEL TIP: Insert a cotton ball into the compact to act as a “shock absorber.” If you’re flying, toss this in your carryon bag to ensure its safety.

PRODUCT: MATTE BROWN EYESHADOW

A matte brown eyeshadow is extremely versatile. Pack an angle brush and use the product to fill in and shape your eyebrows or use along your lash line as an eyeliner. For a more defined brow or eyeliner, dampen the brush before dipping it into your shadow. This product also triples as the perfect crease color for a smoky eye!

TRAVEL TIP: These shadows are quite sturdy and withstand travel well.

PRODUCT: SUPERGOOP! PERK UP LIP & CHEEK COLOR SPF 40

A lip and cheek combo is the epitome of multipurpose makeup! Plus, this specific product also offers broad spectrum SPF and makes it even better and more effective for fun in the sun. Simply tap onto your cheekbones and blend to create a natural flush. You can also dab onto your lips or even apply with a lip brush. This product is great because it works for all skin tones!

TRAVEL TIP: It is a cream, so be sure not to leave it in the heat.

PRODUCT: MAC COSMETICS PRO LONGWEAR CONCEALER

This product can double as a concealer and a foundation. It’s longwearing, sweat proof, offers full coverage and a little will go a long way! Whether you want to cover blemishes or make up your full face, this product is great for both.

TRAVEL TIP: This is packaged in a tiny glass bottle so be cautious with this one. I always put the bottle in a quart size Ziploc bag and bring it on as a carryon. If you’re traveling in a car, just be sure not to leave it in the heat too long.

EXTRA BEAUTY TIP:

If you want to travel with your perfume but don’t want to fuss with the bulky bottle, head to your nearest department store and request a sample size!
