Let’s mesh around

This 90s-inspired trend is a sheer delight

What goes around really does come back around — especially in the fashion world. For instance, the 90s mesh trend is gaining more and more momentum as days go by. The style may not be new, but it’s sure to attract attention.

Not only is mesh “in,” but it’s actually fun to wear. The sheer quality of mesh may turn some people off, but styled correctly with the right accompaniments, it can be a fashion-forward element to incorporate into your fall wardrobe. Versatile and lightweight, mesh is ideal for warmer temperatures but can be worn year-round.

Back in the day, mesh was the material of choice for cool, edgy girls. The best part about its comeback in the 2020s is that it’s more flattering. With bold prints, colors and even stretch fabrics incorporated into some styles, it’s truly the best trend you can find in stores now.

For example, this mesh top is my favorite of all. A semi-sheer piece by Free People, it’s super comfortable and flesh-colored, which is sometimes hard to find for brown skin like mine. I love the fact that it has mesh at the top — giving a little bit of sexy but keeping it totally classy with a sweetheart, ribbed faux-tube feature at the bottom. It’s perfect for layering on those breezy days, or you can wear it by itself. I paired it with some high-waisted mom jeans and a nude heel, but you can style it however you like. I’ve even seen mesh tops styled over dresses, and it’s so cute and fashionable.

Remember: Don’t knock mesh until you’ve tried it. This trend comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, patterns and more. I’m sure your perfect mesh piece is out there, waiting to be added to your closet.
