Get the look of LOVE this Valentine’s Day

February is the month of love — and that includes all different kinds.

Valentine’s Day has become so big that it has spawned a spinoff known as Galantine’s Day — a fun opportunity to celebrate and spend time with female friends. You can have a girls’ night out downtown or gather at someone’s house. Break out the bling, get dressed up in the ensemble that makes you feel your most beautiful and top it off with a slick of your favorite pink lipstick. I recommend Gucci Rouge à Lèvres Voile Sheer Lipstick in Millicent Rose ($45, www.sephora.com) or Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Gracefully Pink ($34, www.charlottetilbury.com). Don’t forget the glitter and high heels!

For those prepping for a romantic date night, remember that red is the color of desire while pinks are reminiscent of sweet and pretty things. I love to mix the colors of romance and sweetness. Red is sexy, but a deep pink that gives your cheeks a flirty flush is smoldering.

I know that red lipstick can scare some, but trust me, you can pull it off. Everyone, and I mean everyone, can wear red; you just need to have the attitude to match. Feel confident in the deepest of shades, or try MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Relentlessly Red ($21, mac.com). It’s undeniably red but has some pink undertones. That color is a killer choice for date night. Throw on your baddest black dress, apply the sharpest black liner and you’re sure to turn heads.

If you want something deeper, MAC Retro Matte in All Fired Up ($21, mac.com) contends with any red on the scene. It’s popular because it’s sexy, radiant and pretty — simply stunning.

When choosing an outfit to pair with these shades, think fun — like a fancy pantsuit or a short, flirty tulle dress. Grab a pair of cute kitten heels, and you’re ready to go.

If you don’t want to wear pink on your lips, a pink liner on your eye can still grab attention. One of my favorites is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Woodstock ($16.10, urbandecay.com).

Whatever you do for Valentine’s Day, make sure to enjoy and spend the day with those you love and cherish most. I also advise treating yourself to a new lipstick.
