Summer is here with its sizzling temperatures, which always raises the question: What can I wear to stay chic and comfortable in this sweltering heat?
I’m excited to share one of my favorite fashion trends for this season: shorts with unique silhouettes; think styles that create a bit more visual interest than your average jean shorts (which still have their place, of course). Simply swapping in one of these updated styles can make an outfit feel more put together without looking like you’re trying too hard.
LACE SHORTS – A FEMININE CHOICE
Lace shorts are soft, feminine and easy to dress both up and down. For daytime, pair them with a simple white tee, your favorite jewelry and an easy sandal or low-heeled shoe.
BERMUDA SHORTS – THE POLISHED OPTION
Bermuda shorts are back for good reason. Their longer, more tailored fit instantly creates a more refined look. They pair well with almost anything, especially crisp button-downs or structured tanks, and work just as well with ballet flats as they do with kitten heels.
LINEN OR BOXER SHORTS – AN EASY ESSENTIAL
Linen and boxer shorts are breathable, comfortable and still feel current. They’re easy to style for everyday use and can be worn all day while still looking intentional and pulled together.
A different style of shorts is a simple change, but one that makes getting dressed for this coastal heat feel a bit more intentional. When the weather calls for less clothing, adding more thought to the details, like silhouettes, textures and styling, ends up making all the difference.
