Give your face a healthy glow this spring

As we all know, spring brings an opportunity to shake off the winter haze. With the start of a new season, we have a chance to enter a courageous new era. One positive change you can make is to be more attentive to your largest organ, your skin, The topic of skin has been trending lately, specifically treating and caring for it, as well as options for enhancing it. As always, your skin’s health should be a top priority.

First, let me pose a question. Since the start of the new year, how have you been caring well for your skin? Have you moisturized? Have you remembered to wear your sunscreen? Did you know that it is OK to wear your sunscreen underneath your foundation? It is OK if you answered “no” to any or all these questions. Again, here is your opportunity to change and evolve.

PRIMING AND MOISTURIZING

Daily moisturizing is the simplest task when you opt for water-based choices. Skin cells are constantly renewing, and to continue to glow, we must feed our skin internally and externally. If you are one who wants to enhance your appearance with the latest makeup brands, having healthy skin ensures better results. Primers with hyaluronic acids like E.L.F Power Grip (from $10, www.elfcosmetics.com) aid in leaving the skin moisturized. This budget-friendly product allows foundations to take on a more hydrated appearance, which differs from the matte looks of previous seasons.

SKIN TINTS AND FOUNDATIONS

Skin tints and serum-rich foundations also are trending. Trusted brands like MAC and CoverGirl have options for all budgets. One I recommend is M.A.C Strobe Dewy Skin Tint (from $36, amazon.com)

While the popular preference is shifting from heavier to lighter and matte to moisturized, that doesn’t mean the desire for coverage is going away. However, rather than hiding under layers of makeup, we are correcting our approach to create, lifelong, loving relationships with our beautiful skin.

Giving our skin, the chance to be nourished and be the star of the day should always be our aim. Make this spring your time to glow!
