Spring and summer on the Mississippi Gulf Coast have a rhythm all their own. The days stretch longer. The humidity settles in. And suddenly, every parent is asking the same question: What are we going to do with these kids?

Here’s a Coast-grown bucket list: 25 ideas for families with little ones, big kids and everyone in between. Some you may know well, and others might become your new favorite Saturday tradition.

1. Wild Acres Hands-On Animal Experience

If you have an animal lover, this hands-on wildlife experience in McHenry lets kids get surprisingly close to everything from monkeys to big cats. (wildacresms.com)

7. Pascagoula River Audubon Center

8. Green Acres Creamery

9. Lynn Meadows Discovery Center Splash Pad

18. Cinema in the City at Jones Park

The beauty of raising kids on the Coast is that adventure is rarely far away. Sometimes it’s just down Pass Road, across the bridge or hidden behind a gravel driveway with a handwritten sign. Here’s to another season of sunscreen and sticky hands!
