Meet the 2026 Colleen: Amy Bowman

Amy Kathleen Bowman is a passionate advocate for Irish culture on the Coast. Born in California and raised in Idaho, she began Irish dancing at age 12 — advancing to become a champion. In 2012, she co-founded and ran a performance-based Irish dance school before relocating to Utah for college.

A life-changing summer visit prompted Bowman’s move to Biloxi in 2020, and she has since become an active community leader — serving on the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce board and as treasurer of the Hibernia Irish Society. She opened the Niall O’Leary School of Irish Dance in 2022, and throughout her two decades of teaching, she has introduced hundreds to the joy of Irish dance

In 2023, Bowman founded Feisin’ the Coast, a nonprofit that promotes Irish culture through dance, song and music. She directed the Coast’s first Irish festival and dance competition, which was so successful that it has been recognized and supported by the consulate general of Ireland in Miami.

Bowman traces her Irish heritage through her mother’s lineage and continues to honor her roots through both personal passion and public service. In addition to running the nonprofit, the dance school and her own marketing agency, she works as the marketing and communications director for Coastal Family Health Center. Her accomplishments and hard work have led to Bowman being recognized twice as one of Gulf Coast Woman’s 100 Successful Women to Know.

Being named the 2026 Colleen, Bowman says, is both humbling and exciting.

“Through my work as an Irish dance instructor, studio owner, and a board member of various Celtic nonprofits, I’ve seen just how powerful cultural celebrations can be in bringing people together,” Bowman says. “This role allows me to shine a light on the incredible organizations and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep our traditions alive. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to give back, support Hibernia and celebrate our shared heritage with the community.”
