Did you dress up when you were a little girl? I thought it was great fun to put on fancy clothes, shoes and jewelry and prance around like I was a princess. The charade wouldn’t be complete without some lipstick — in a shade that my mom decided didn’t suit her — smeared all over my lips.
I’m much more put together now, but I still enjoy getting dressed up from time to time and hitting the town. I’m not alone; a fantastic group of friends and I get together monthly, and a recent suggestion was to get all gussied up and go out. We were fine meeting at someone’s home. We just wanted a night to feel fancy and elevate our look.
This is the time of year to shine and add glam to your life. Here’s a couple ways you can stand out this season:
- A luxe fabric like satin, cashmere or silk is key. Whatever makes you feel elegant is the right choice.
- Accessorize as much (or as little) as you want. You can go minimal with diamond or pearl stud earrings, or over the top (like me) with crystals, rhinestones and baubles on your ears, neck or wrists. Sparkle however you want!
The holiday season is busy, and it’s easy to get tired and want to stay home. I encourage you to find a reason to dress up and celebrate — just like the little girl you once were.
• Drop earrings show holiday flair and fit with a party vibe.

• Satin enhances jewel tones like emerald green for an elevated look that’s not too bougie.

• Show your romantic side with a wedge that exudes floral charm.

• A festive bag with baubles on the handle has a fun, vintage feel.
