Rich, satisfying and full of classic flavor, this creamy chicken noodle soup from Carlin Duncan, owner of Girl Meets Kitchen, is the perfect comfort food for cold days and cozy nights.
“Tender chicken, hearty vegetables and egg noodles simmer together in a velvety, seasoned broth that feels like home,” Duncan says.
INGREDIENTS
- 2–3 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
- 3 carrots, chopped (or one small bag shredded carrots)
- 3 celery stalks, diced
- 1 large yellow onion, diced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 12-ounce bag medium egg noodles
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
SEASONINGS
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- ½ teaspoon basil
- ½ teaspoon thyme
- Cajun seasoning, to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, sauté onion, carrots and celery over medium heat until softened and fragrant, about five to seven minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Stir in chicken broth and water. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Add egg noodles and cook according to package directions, stirring occasionally.
- Once noodles are tender, add cooked chicken and reduce heat to low.
- Stir in heavy whipping cream, then season with salt, pepper, oregano, basil, thyme and Cajun seasoning. Simmer for five to 10 minutes, allowing flavors to blend.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot.

Serve with crusty bread or warm biscuits for the ultimate comforting meal.
