Faces of Success: Stephanie Shaw

Meet Stephanie Shaw, broker associate with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Preferred Properties and senior manager, curriculum design, with HSF Affiliates.

Q: TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND THE IMPACT YOU’RE MAKING.

SS: I am dedicated to leaving a lasting mark on the real estate industry. There is no industry that serves the public and cultivates connections in communities more profoundly than Realtors.

I am equally passionate about all roles I play as an agent, leader and coach. The secret ingredient when coaching agents is encouragement. Life is hard enough, and everyone deserves a cheerleader.

When working with clients, I understand that human beings have not had a software update since the beginning of time. Connecting with them and focusing solely on their needs is what makes the transaction an exceptional experience.

Q: TELL US ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE PASSIONATE ABOUT AND WHY.

SS: I am passionate about self-improvement. It is through the exercise of improving oneself that we improve the world.

Women tend to pour themselves into everything but themselves, and I certainly have been guilty of that in the past. You do not need to have an “It’s-all-about-me” attitude, either. Weave in the good stuff, whatever that is for you: reading, watercolor painting or rest. A refreshed head and heart go a long way toward making a difference in the world.

Q: WHAT SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS OR AWARDS ARE YOU PROUD OF?

SS: On Sept. 18, I was inducted into the Gulf Coast Association of Realtors Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon those who exemplify the highest standards of excellence, integrity and service in real estate.

Over the last 24 years, I have set myself apart by my unwavering commitment to clients, mentorship to fellow Realtors and meaningful contributions to the Gulf Coast communities — as well as local, state and national associations.

Q: SHARE A QUOTE OR MANTRA YOU LIVE BY THAT HAS HELPED YOU BECOME SUCCESSFUL.

SS: One of my favorite quotes is, “Work is not work, and play is not play; it is all living.” I am constantly looking for ways to improve my craft. Through reading, writing and reflection, I can recognize patterns and make adjustments, with alignment always being my ultimate goal. When I think I have done my very best, I step back, take a break and return for more. We are all more capable than we give ourselves credit for.
